I enjoyed reading the history having
been born and lived at Laindon for nearly 18 years when I moved to Norfolk with my parents in
1964. Disappointed not to see more pics of the OLD Laindon as I knew it. I have the book by
Peter Lucas and won't let anybody borrow it. Peter gave it to me when my Dad and I met
him outside the now sadly demolished 'Laindon Hotel' where we have many memories of and not just
for the beer. Cheers to all who remember me, and please get in touch. I still visit the place
from time to time, so it would be nice to meet up and reminise. I fink thas ow its
spelt. Thanks. |

Found site by accident, have relations
still in Popes Crescent and Burns Avenue area of Pitsea. My mum in law from Pitsea has seen this
site and says she recognises some of the names on the guestbook from many years ago and lots of
the Pitsea and Vange buildings now long gone. We think she is on one of the photos of Pitsea
Primary School 1961 holding my husband as a baby and our old family bungalow is in the
background. |

I used to live in Theydon Crescent Basildon and I
worked for Wignalls Bookmakers and Harts Bookmakers at Pitsea, and Walkers garage. (Its not

Born and bred in Basildon. It was a
ton of fun just browsing through the site seeing the old pictures (sad to find you have none of
the original Towngate theater :( )

Very interesting site. I was born and
bred in Laindon and left for Australia in 1966. The 1949 map is how I remember Laindon, and
crossing Blue House Farm to attend Markhams Chase Primary.
Still return to see family and
friends. |

Just found all of your fantastic photos
of Laindon and the High Road School. Many great memories for me, attended from 1961 to
