I lived in Basildon from its inception
and left some 30 years ago. I attended Timberlog and Greensted Junior. I hope that this site
can grow and grow there are 10s of thousands out there who would like to keep in touch.
I am looking for a Graham Randall and a Jeff Rowles. |

Boss site wing commander, Nostalgic for the old
Bas, pre-Laindon police station. What'll happen to the 'Power house' site do ya think? We
played there in our band, didn't we webmaster? Commodore, Double 6, Laindon Hotel, and the
Bullseye? = Beehive? yuch!
cheers, Andy

Only just discovered the site, great to
see photos of Laindon as I remember it. I attended Laindon High Road School until 1965 and
left Laindon in 1971. Does anyone remember Don Woodley, if you know where he is, please send an
e mail, I would like to know how he is after so many years. |

Hi folks, great site, a real memory
lane. Are there any Pupils from pre 1964 that attended Laindon high road, (and can still see to
type!). Excellant to see the young ones Having a reunion, it would be good to catch up with a
few of the seniors!! Terry Stolworthy, Joe Borowski and any of the other Lads and Lassies from
Alan Bears class of sixty three.
All the best from down under. |

Great site. As a former resident from
Laindon (namely Handley Green within the infamous Alcatraz Estate) and after spending 25 years
there before moving away earlier this year, its nice to see a webpage dedicated to the history
of the area where I grew up in.
Well done :) |

Hi, Can anyone help? I am trying to trace Martin
Sargeant, who was a crew member on P&O Oronsay in 1964/5. He lived in Claydon Crescent,
Basildon. Any news would be appreciated. Thank you |

Born 1956 London. Lived in
Collingwood Road from about 1959 until I married in 1977 and moved to Canvey and onwards. I
was a Telephone Maintenance man in Basildon from about 1977-1987. I must have been in a lot
of houses and just about every shop and business in Basildon during that time. Your site is
fascinating (especially the 1949 map). The shops info certainly jogs the memory. Good
luck - keep developing. |
